Pet Health Insurance - Health Insurance for your Pit Bull
Pet health insurance has reached new heights over the years and companies are offering outstanding policies for dog owners, yes, even Pit Bull owners, and their dogs.
How does Pet Insurance work?
In a nutshell it works like human insurance. If your dog has an accident or develops a diseases pet insurance companies will help pay the vet bills. I have used pet insurance on several occassions, the first time when my dog Honey injured her leg. The second time when my dog Angel ate a small toy ball that was in the yard and she had to have surgery to have it removed.
In both cases the bill was out of my reach financially and had I not had pet insurance I would probably still be paying on the bills. My point, like your own insurance, getting insurance for your Pit Bull is just as important.
Your investment will range from $9-$35 per month in most cases and like our own insurance there are policies that cover just about anything that could happen to your dog.
What I like about pet insurance is they usually have several programs you can enroll with to fit your budget and still provide adequate coverage for your dog. Which leads us to choosing the right company.
How Do I Choose a Solid Company?
When I searched for insurance and specifically pet insurance I wanted to do business with a company that
had been around, offered affordable packages, and covered accidents as well as health issues like diseases.
One company that you may find useful is QuickCare Pet Insurance
. They have several programs for dogs and even a senior dog program (I like this as my dogs are aging).
Another really cool feature is in their Gold Plan. If you have an accident or an illness that requires you go to the hospital for example Quickcare will help pay for boarding your dog. They will pay up to $250 on your kennel fee. How cool is that?
QuickCare
also has a accident only policy that covers things like ingesting foreign objects (like Angel and her ball accident) and getting hit by a car.
There are a few things I have a small problem with when it comes to QuickCare and that's their "select breeds" policy. They charge a bit more in monthly premiums for our breed along with some other breeds like the Basenji. But I found that most pet insurance companies do the same thing.
Whatever policy or company you choose to go with it is a good idea to get pet insurance on your Pit Bull for numerous reasons. While our dogs are tough they are not indestructible. Having a good pet insurance policy will give you peace of mind and added security against accidents and illnesses.
