I was sitting here at my computer thinking of article ideas and I realized I hadn’t written about dog parks in a while. So, I fired up my word processor and sat there staring at the screen for a minute. Then decided I’d just blog it.

So, with that said, here’s my take on dog parks. Forgive me if I get a little hot under the collar in places.

Dog parks are a bad idea for more reasons that I can write here. I could write 20 articles on this subject alone. Let’s just say, they are set up to fail from the beginning. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule. However, as a whole, they are doomed.

Why?

Simple, people are selfish and rude. And dog owners, well those that really love their dogs, are sometimes the worst of the bunch.

I mean really, Little Ricky (little RIcky is a 150lbs Saint Benhard) would never do anything “mean” or “rude.” Puuuuuuh-leeeeease! Sound familiar? You’ve been to a dog park too? Hahaha.

Meanwhile Little Ricky has nearly killed 4 or 5 little dogs cause he has zero doggy manners and is well, massive.

And no, I’m not picking on the big dogs. There are MORE than an equal amount of psycho dogs no bigger than a shoe box.

Which is exactly my point. These owners, who have never taken the time to actually care what their dogs do, just don’t care. Or they are so self centered they don’t see it.

Dog parks are supposed to be fun places to take your dog to play. More times than not they are battle grounds. For dogs and their owners.

My advice, stay as far away from these chaos centers as possible. If you just have to go though, do some research. Visit them without your dog and watch the owners and how they tend to their dogs.

Make sure they don’t have a thing against the breed. Some will say they are “okay” but when one is around Mr. Fluffy they seem to change their minds quick.
