Pit Bull Breeders – A word about the production of Pit Bull Puppies

August 2nd, 2005

Yesterday I received an email from a “breeder.”

For legal reasons I can not put the breeders name, website or even the exact email up here for us to scrutinize but I will elaborate on a few parts.

The first part deals with me teaching people to fear the American Pit Bull Terrier. I asked them to provide me with proof of this and haven’t heard back. Probably because I have never given anyone a reason to fear the breed.

The email stated that the person was a breeder. They loved their dogs and they only went to approved homes.

This person then went on to say,

“I don’t understand how you can considerer yourself a lover of the breed when you give people reasons to fear them.”

This tripped my up a bit because I have no idea when, where, or what I have ever done to give any one a reason to fear the American Pit Bull Terrier.

The email continued…

“Frankly, the breed has enough bad publicity as it is. I agree with you that there is a lot of “backyard” breeders who do not care about the breed only the money involved in puppies. I think people should not honor these types of places by purchasing a dog from them.”

While I will not post a link to their site, I will tell you the first thing that I saw when I visited.

“Specializing in LARGE BLUE Pit Bulls.

That should say it all right there. They have no respect for the UKC or ADBA standards (though their dogs are registered with both) and their dogs are 80-100 lbs for both male and female.

They went on to say…

“I also think there should be regulations against who should be able to breed these animals. I also think the breed is one of the best and people who claim to be their advocates, should be more loyal to them than you. Thank you.”

I put that last part in bold because it was a direct statment about me and my involvement with the breed.

What I find interesting about this comment is…

…I’m not the one producing LARGE (incorrect) BLUE (Only Breeds for Color and Large Structure) Pit Bull Puppies (like we need more of those).

No, I only donate my time and effort to hundreds of APBT owners on a daily basis (for free I might add) and donate my time and money to Pit Bull rescues around the nation (on a weekly basis I might add) and have built my life around the breed and devoted myself to restoring the breed back to its ORIGINAL form.

Here’s a quote from their web site. This quote was taken from one of their descriptions of their main dog. A 100 lbs big BLUE male dog.

“He is our idea of the PERFECT blue pitbull.”

Read that carefully.

Pay attention to the part where it says, “our idea.”

One of the things that is killing our breed is “our ideas” about how it should be.

People take a perfect dog that was perfected long before they
could even walk and deform them into “their idea” of the “perfect” Pit Bull.

These type of people wouldn’t know a perfect Pit Bull if it was right in front of them licking their face.

In order to stop these types of puppy sellers (that’s what they are, they are not improving the breed and they have no ethics) a grass roots campaign must be started.

When you see these people call them out. Contact the UKC and the ADBA and make some noise. Ask them why they keep letting these freak dogs in their registery.

Ask them why they are helping kill the REAL American Pit Bull Terrier and why they themselves are not enforcing their own standards in the show rings!

Email them daily if you must. Email them the URL to the web sites and point out these incorrect dogs are registered with their organization and that only makes THEM look bad.

I can sum this post up in 5 words….

“Start Fighting BYB’s Right Now.”
