Pit Bulls: The Double Edged Sword

Hello and welcome to another edition of, “I’m about to get blasted” with Jason Mann.

On a serious note, today I was reading my emails (daily ritual) and sifting through them when I had one of those, “well you know what?” moments.

This time it had to do with media attention about Pit Bulls. Both good and bad.

The Double Edged Sword

1. Bad media attention tells the world our dogs are vicious killers and signals low lifes to buy them in the dozens.

2. Good media attention tells the world our dogs are great and wonderful and signals irresponsible owners to buy them by the dozens.

BOTH end up hurting the breed.

On another note a big part of the problem is well intentioned owners who are irresponsible about their actions.

This can also bring bad media attention to the breed.

As I was writing this article I received an email from someone wanting to know how to get papers on their dogs so they could breed them (they already do for love and protection?????) and sell their dogs.

This person is supposed to be a responsible owner. Yet, they take part in what I think is as bad or worse than dog fighting. Breeding untitled, non-health tested, pet quality Pit Bulls and selling them to people.

If you fit the above description, I ask you, please, stop and think about what you are doing.

Even if the dogs are the greatest Pit Bulls on earth, unless they serve a real purpose (like drug and bomb work, herding, hunting, etc…) they should not be bred.

I’ll end this article with a question…

How would you stop the Pit Bull dilemma and address the issues we face today (like BSL etc…)?

Pit Bulls and Pit Bull Haters

An open letter to everyone who thinks my morals, values, and judegement are not up to par because I happen to choose the American Pit Bull Terrier breed over all others.

Kiss my southern butt cheeks!

Why don’t you go out and do something productive with all the free time you have to email with your whining complaints about vicious Pit Bulls.

The lady below replied back and basically said she did not care if owners were the problem and these dogs should be banned.

Sadly this how most lazy people think. They don’t care to hold people responsible for their actions, rather, they would like us law abiding, productive citizens to give up our well mannered Pit Bulls that have never so muched as scratched a person.

Yeah, what a lovely (and completely retarded) suggestion.

Again….

Get off my back and do something productive with your life. Oh, I don’t know, rake your yard or something.

Pit Bulls: Insane Crazed Killers or How I’m So Selfish and Do not care about the people in society.

Today I received an email with the subject, “Shame.”

I thought it was a piece of junk mail but I opened it anyway. Glad I did too because it was a great email from a concerned mother of 4 about Pit Bulls and the recent attacks in her community.

Here is the email…

“This following article happened to our dear friends because of delusional, selfish, sick, shameful, insane people like you!!!!!

I am a mother of 4 little children. We must live forever in fear because of the fetishes of a few sick people like yourself.

You know these dogs are walking time bombs. Of course, some may never attack but some of them do!!!!!

Even if they are the same as every other breed and don’t have “trigger” problems, the reason we always hear about the insane maulings is because they attack so viciously. They are solid muscle and “take chunks” out of people when they get pissed. I’m pretty pissed for a very good reason. It’s a good thing we mothers don’t take chunks out of people whom we feel are threatening us and our’s.

Another sweet dear friend was attacked in our same town just days before the trio attacked. Out of nowhere she was bitten on the back of her leg by another of these insane creatures!!!!! She is only 12 and what a beautiful sweet girl now scarred for life! She walks around school with crutches. I wondered if she signed the cards going around the schools for the two newest victems. How horrible it must be for her to never feel safe in her town again.

I have two adorable, sweet, loving little dogs. But they are dogs!!!!!!!!! If I found out the breed was prone to go nuts and could tear people apart at a moments notice….I would put them down…I would face reality!!!

HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO PEOPLE BECAUSE OF YOUR OWN SELFISHNESS!!!!

We don’t keep wild animals because they just can’t be trusted!!!!! Many could be kept their entire life with out turning on people but we just can’t take that chance…..Pit Bulls have that wild instinct to attack. That’s what they were bred to do and we can’t trust they always can keep in control of themselves.

This attack in Cary happened only a few days after Halloween. Can you imagine what would have happened if their insane brains would have triggered just those few days earlier?!!!
Cary if crawling with children!!! On Halloween their EVERYWHERE!!!

How can you sleep at night knowing that tomorrow you may be the owner having to live with the blood of mauled children on your hands for the rest of your days!!

Can you imagine being the Sword family. They are a sweet family who breed and raise pit bulls. All the children in the neighborhood have played with these dogs since they were born. The people in the neighborhood knew and liked these dogs! Can you imagine what images the Sword children have to live with the rest of their lives? Their dogs were shot and they had to listened to them whimpering as they died!

These dogs were in no way abused or trained to be mean! 2 of them were also “puppies”, under a year weighing 80 pounds of solid muscle already!!!!

Poor little Nick. What a sweet boy from a wonderful family!!! He has an older brother and sister who adore him. My kids think he’s great. This child will never be the same if he even lives!!
The whole family puts their efforts in church and other places that make the world a better place…don’t you think you could put your talents in a more sure and positive direction other than bringing creatures into the world that terrify MOST of us!!!!

We are a small but close knit town. Now in the schools their are grief counsels for many children who are having a hard time dealing with this.
People like you are promoting this INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this breed worth it…..NO BREED IS WORTH THAT!!!!!

I would not wish on any dog what was done to those children.
You are playing Russian Roulette with your and other’s lives….which day is it going to be your turn?

I am doing this strictly for myself because I am old enough to know that this falls on deaf ears. People like you who would take such a risk and ignore all the facts could care less about people like me and my children. You have very thick heads and very little sense and the rest of us pay for it. You care little about anything but your own little Circe of want..you are very very selfish.
At least when you look in your dogs eyes you have peace knowing they won’t one day be ripped to shreds by the fetish of crazy people like yourself. That’s something I will never be able to do about my children or my dogs. Your dogs LOVE to rip apart little dogs like mine…that’s what they were BRED to do!!!!

Funny, my dogs have never ripped anyones dogs apart. But apparently they love to do it.

Funny, 80 lbs puppies, yes, these are great Pit Bulls! Nope. Incorrect, badly bred, dogs.

I hate emails like these for several reasons.

First of all, tragic as it is, people were hurt. However, they never blame the people who allowed the attacks to happen!

She even said, “Can you imagine being the Sword family. They are a sweet family who breed and raise pit bulls. ”

Weren’t these the owners responsible for the attacks? Their actions are not considered, but they are called, sweet and they had to “suffer” because of their actions.

I could be wrong, but doesn’t that seem a little odd?

People blame dogs, animals, creatures under HUMAN care for attacks that HUMANS allow and yet no one blames the owner. Unless of course they are a scum-bag. But if you are “sweet” then you can get away with being stupid and irresponsible.

According to this mother of four that is.
