Pit Bulls and Pit Bull Haters
November 14th, 2005
An open letter to everyone who thinks my morals, values, and judegement are not up to par because I happen to choose the American Pit Bull Terrier breed over all others.
Kiss my southern butt cheeks!
Why don’t you go out and do something productive with all the free time you have to email with your whining complaints about vicious Pit Bulls.
The lady below replied back and basically said she did not care if owners were the problem and these dogs should be banned.
Sadly this how most lazy people think. They don’t care to hold people responsible for their actions, rather, they would like us law abiding, productive citizens to give up our well mannered Pit Bulls that have never so muched as scratched a person.
Yeah, what a lovely (and completely retarded) suggestion.
Again….
Get off my back and do something productive with your life. Oh, I don’t know, rake your yard or something.
Best Regards,

I am the owner of 3 wonderful, beautiful, couragous, fun-loving, energetic animals. These animals are American Pit Bull Terriers and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. my babies are around a 2,5 and 10 year old children at all times and the only person they would harm is some one hurting their kids. I can’t even raise my voice at them with out being growled at. So any person that thinks that pit bulls just “turn” on people, have not ever been around responsible dog owners with well minded dogs . Not those people who are “sweet” to other people but alot of people beat their family members behind closed doors and nobody knows about it till the other person has enough and goes and buys a gun. So you point your finger at who ever you want, because to me you are nothing but an ignorant “bitch”.

oh my god, that lady was ridiculous!! its people like that, with their mentality, that don’t deserve to be dog wners at all. she obviously holds her dear little fufu dog at a higher standard than ours. what a ditz. my mom had her little poodle mix tore apart by two “fighter” pit bulls, and I was there when i happened, these rough ghetto looking dudes had these two pits with scars all on their face and ears and torso, get this – unleashed at a public park! kids playing everywhere. these dogs saw my mom’s little dog, and ran over and proceeded to play tug of war with her body. the guy could not get his dogs under control, and was beating them in the head trying to make them let go of my mom’s dog. did i blame the pitbulls???!? NO!!! absolutely not, and it happened right in front of me!! these dogs had been trained to go after little animals, probably as part of their pit training to get them excited before a fight. but it was still not the dogs at fault. i completely blame the owners for encouraging any kind of aggression in the breed. the guys with these pits, started laughing, saying how we should not have come to the park with our dog. my pit was there at the time and obeyed me when i told him to stay, because he watched his best little friend get tore into pieces by his fellow breed. it was so hard for him to stay, he wanted to try to rescue the little dog, but i knew if i let him go, the other two pits would have tore my pit apart. my dog is a big baby, and has never been in a serious fight. when the animal control people came so we could file the complaint, they saw I had a pit, and realized that we were not biased at all towards the other dogs, and they even reached into my car and petted my well behaved pit, complementing me on my control and training. once again, these ignorant people have their preconceived ideas, and are targeting the wrong dog! its not the dog. and i never heard of an 80 pound puppy pitbull. haha
keep going with your great attitude, and thanks for fighting for the rights of our breed!!!!!!!!!
I’m doing a report for school on the reputation Pit Bulls have, and the ultimate point is that poor breeding and upbringing are the cause of agression in ALL breeds. I don’t have Pits, but I know how absolutely retarded these laws are, how selfish these ignorant bastards are who like to believe these dogs are inherantly crazy, and I enjoy spreading the good word about them.
It would be like assuming all humans are like Hannibal Lecter. or Charles Mason. Or etc. etc. etc.
I have an American Pit Bull Terrier, Bella, and a Dogo Argintino/Bull Terrier mix. These two dogs are the most loving and treasured friends I have ever had. Teddy, my Dogo, had his ears chopped off by creeps who wanted to fight him. They did fight him and then they left him on the side of the road to die. He is kind, gentle, loving, and is so forgiving of what “human beings” have done to him.
I have done years of research regarding these dogs, as I have children. My mother, who is 85 years old lives with us. My Bella walks gently beside her when she gets up. She barks and “calls” me if Mom needs anything. Bella is loving, tender hearted, and precious. She adores children.
The biggest problem is that these dogs aren’t the problem. The people who own them are. They have very even temperaments and have been one of the 4th top breed to pass the American Canine Temperament Tests. It’s easy to blame the Pit Bull. Look at the people who allow their dogs to run free, look at the people who torment dogs to make them “mean.” By the way, it takes “extreme circumstances and torture” to make them unpredictable. The ASPCA and the American Veterinary Association don’t believe in banning.
Get your facts straight. Do some ‘unbiased’ research. Don’t go by media hype. These dogs are THE most mis-understood, neglected, mistreated, and abused dog in this country. Most (not all) just want to be loved. For some, it’s too late.

This is a very sad time for all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with the people involved in the recent attacks and every person who has been attacked by a dog of any breed. HOWEVER, please place your anger and other emotions to those who truly deserve it. If I am selfish, by your standards madaam, for loving and completely appreciating my APBT then I think my life will go on. I purchased my beautiful Princess from very responsible breeders who kept tabs on their puppy to ensure that she was in good hands. I have never had such a loving less aggressive dog out of a boxer a chow and a sharpe. All of the other dogs I had had never bit or attacked anyone, but have showed their primal nature on more than one occasion and I train all of my dogs to be “law abiding members of the family” for lack of a better analogy. I am in the process of getting another APBT and he will be just as trained and well-maintained as Princess. All dogs should be supervised at all time and placed in a safe secure location when no one is around. Simple precautions lead to fewer and fewer problems for everyone. Ignorance is not a defense and irresponsible dog owners should endure jail time and pay fines for misbehavior and bad ownership. I love my dog, I love this site and have the utmost respect for responsible dog owners everywhere. Thanks Jason for raising awareness and taking an active role in the process.

Jason, we have been fighting BSL here in our neck of the woods – and have seen people get angry and hateful on both sides of the issue. In the BSL “discussion” in a local county here, the anti-BSL side prevailed, mainly because we wouldn’t allow ourselves to get ruffled in the courtroom. While the BSL “pit bulls should all die” people ranted and raved and wouldn’t stop talking even when their time was up, the breed defenders were calm, collected, and respectful.
These people realized that their dogs lives were at stake, and approached the matter with the seriousness that it warrented, while the opposing side, who had nothing to lose, treated it as if they were in a riot – arguing for the sake of hearing their own voices.
The outcome was that BSL was held back in one place for now – most places are not so lucky.
Jason, I’ve said it to you before, and I’ll say it to you again, thank you for being a breed advocate and for putting out as much positive information that you do. You do make a difference – and every little bit helps.
Wow, this lady is just a walking woman of rage against Pit bulls! I can understand if a person gets bit by any kind of a dog, yes that is understandable to be upset but come on you can’t judge a whole breed based on a few incidents that happen with Pit bulls when half the time they aren’t even a Pit bull or you never see the picture to know if it is in fact one but because the media get’s off on anything they can do to ruin this breed this is what happens! She may have 2 dogs but God forbid if they ever bit one of her kids (and they aren’t Pit bulls)! This world is made up of so much hate and ignorance towards people and animals that you can’t base your opinions just based on what you may see or hear. I have personally been bitten by some fluffy white dog, don’t even know what breed it was but I’m not about to put forth hate towards that particular breed! It’s too bad this mother feels that she has to live in fear, God Bless Her! She’s just missing out on the one of the finest breeds around!
You know I just think it’s amazing that this Woman said that atleast you can look into your Pit Bull’s eyes and not have to worry about them being mauled to pieces. Maybe, if she had taken the time to learn something before making an ignorant comment, she would have found out that the number of Pit Bulls that attack people is in no way near the number of cases of cruelty towards them. Every day the ASPCA’s seize abused, neglected and beaten Pit’s. Every day crazed, ignorant lunatic’s such as that woman torture these poor animals, because their “vicious.” People like YOU LADY just need a band wagon to jump on, and someone to crusify in order to make yourself feel better. Who better to crusify than a “vicious” dog, whose sole purpose in life is to please its master. I wonder what type of dogs she has. If she went to the temperment testing website, she’d probably find that the American Pit Bull Terrier most likely has a better temperment than her “little” dogs. I own three dogs. One Pit Bull, one Lab/ Pit Mix and one Mutt. I’ve also spent the past two years volunteering at every local animal shelter, humane society and sanctuary possible. My Father and I have helped parents to train hundreds of Dogs over the past seven years. I have never in my life met a kinder, gentler, more loving or eager to please breed in my life. I only pray that one day a Pit Bull saves her life as a Pit Bull has saved mine twice before.
Yes everyone this is just the kind of negativity that the good ol’ A.P.B.T. owners like us have to rise above. I think for every 1 responsible, inteligent dog owner (of any breed realy) there has got to be at least 15 stupid idiots who never inherited a common sense gene. Anyway, I just got the winter 05′ issue of the A.P.B.T. Gazette. The picture on the cover is of a red nose swimming out of his hurricane Katrina flooded yard in hopes of finding something, anything dry ground, food, love. The picture is memorable and it makes you keep in mind the Never Give Up attitude the Pit Bull instills into every one of us owners/breeders/lovers who are fortunate enough to have a good one or two in our everyday lives. I feel sorry for anyone who never gets a chance to have a Pit Bull in their lives. Those are the people who need a Pits sunshine the most!!!
Pit bulls are not born vicious & they are not genetically programmed to attack! What is wrong with all of the ignorant people who instead of learning facts about this breed choose to live in fear & condemn something they know nothing about! This makes me so angery!!!!
This is no more that people being prejudice only against a breed of dog rather than the color of a person’s skin. Unbelievable!
I am a pit bull companion (I choose not to use the term owner because you own material things NOT living, breathing, feeling beings) who knows how gentle these amazing animals are & I wouldn’t have another breed for a pet ever in this life!
I have had pit bulls around ever since I can remember I learned how to walk thanks to my pit. If pit bulls are so vicious I wouldn’t be here right now and I would do anything in the world for my dogs. Right now I don’t have any pits just because they have since passed away but I’ve already got plans for a new one soon.
RIP Azabeth and Herculese
