Pit Bulls and PETA

July 12th, 2006

I was sitting at my computer doing some work and decided to take a break. I have been working on some new stuff for the web site and am in the process of writing a new book about leadership with our dogs too. Well, the break turned into a whole different project and the result, this post.

PETA is a company of PUNKS. If you support PETA finanically, stop. If you think you know their agenda and support it, stop. If you want to help the American Pit Bull Terrier then shun PETA like never before.

PETA is an organization that in my mind is crazy. Literally out of their minds and the people are anti-human that work there and many people simply don’t know what their true mission is.

PETA’s mission is to eliminate all companion animals.

Here is a quote from Ingrid Newkirk PETA’s president.

“I don’t use the word “pet.” I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer “companion animal.” For one thing, we would NO LONGER ALLOW BREEDING.. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance — Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s President, quoted in The Harper’s Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223. “

Pay attention to the words, “Phased out.”

But it’s not just PETA that is taking the issue to the extreme. Hundreds of these organizations are out there and they are no better than the folks behind the Oklahoma Bombing or the World Trade Centers. Matter of fact, they support actions like that in regards to firebombing university research facilities that do important medical research using animals.

Is the use of animals in our medical discovery cruel? In some cases yes. In others no. If a cure for cancer or AIDS can be found through animal research why wouldn’t you support it? To do otherwise would be anti-human.

Here is another quote in regards to this research. This comes from Bill Maher PETA’s Celebrity Spokesperson…

“To those people who say, `My father is alive because of animal experimentation,’ I say `Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live.’ Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off. — Bill Maher, PETA celebrity spokesman. “

To Mr. Maher the life of a dog is more valuable or important than that of a person’s father!

This is the kind of mentality we deal with and the reason I bring it up is because animal rights groups are huge supporters of breed specific legislation. They funnel their support to the law makers and use these situations to further their agenda of total elimination of companion animals, animals for research, animals for food, animals for anything.

Yet another great example…

“Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses. — Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s President, The Washington Post, November 13, 1983. “

This nut case compares the loss of six million human lives in Nazi Germany to chickens we consume for food.

More good news from the Animal Rights folks:

“We are capable of dealing with anyone. No one has died yet but that time will come. — Keith Mann of ALF, as quoted in the Evening Standard [London, Dec. 8, 1998). Mann was sentenced in 1994 to 14 years in prison for leading a gang which, in 1991, attacked almost 700 businesses in Manchester, UK. “

More ALF:

“I would be overjoyed when the first scientist is killed by a liberation activist. — Vivien Smith of ALF (USA Today, September 3, 1991).”

After reading these quotes only an idiot or a person that does not value human life would support these organizations. Low life losers that need validation and power.

PETA members are terrorists and want to literally wage a war on you, the law abiding dog owner.

Also, Ingrid Newkirk wants to kill Pit Bulls so, “people will stop abusing them.”

That makes sense. Instead of holding the abusing person responsible, just kill the breed. This goes to show you that you really can be anything you want in America.

Pit Bull Fatally Kills Toddler

July 5th, 2006

In Newton County Mississippi a toddler was killed by the family Pit Bull. First, I am saddened by her death. It was something that yet again could have been avoided. Yet again, the dog is to blame and not the owners or the parents of this unfortunate child.

As I read the report the first thing that jumped out was, “she was attacked by the family dog, one of two pit bulls kept on chains.”

As a professional canine instructor/behaviorist I instantly see that chaining a dog can cause so many problems that allowing a kid (or anyone) near them is simply irresponsible.

Think about it for a second folks. What would a person do if they were chained up and kept from interacting with anyone but yet, people come and go all the time right in front of them. Just out of arms reach. Tempting them. Taunting them. The frustration builds and continues to build the longer they are on the chain.

If you said, lash out at any stimulus the first chance they got, you hit the nail on the head.

Chaining dogs is stupid, irresponsible, and dangerous. Yes, DANGEROUS.

Yet again, it is the dog that is blamed for the attack. Yes, the Pit Bull did kill the child. I am not denying that. What I am bringing to the attention of every one reading this is, when you put a dog on a chain and then neglect it attention or social interaction the dog will start to become a problem dog.

This goes for any breed. Big or small, aggressive or not.

The quote in the story from the Sheriff is how law enforcement views your animals folks. They think they are “the worse dogs out there” and they are “bred to be aggressive” and it’s “in them to kill” and other statements made by people without a single day’s education in canine behavior.

They couldn’t tell you how to stop a dog from chewing on the sofa as much as they could tell you why a chained dog (again any breed) is more of a risk than a house dog. They certaintly have no reason to make statements like “They are so aggressive. It’s bred into them” when they don’t have any formal education or understanding of the issue.

I guess he slept at a Holiday Inn Express.

Another tragedy caused by stupid people and blamed on a dog.
