In a recent comment on my post, Pit Bull Attacks: Hype, Hysteria and Hatred. One commenter, in an effort to make Pit Bull Terriers look more dangerous, suggested that even pro-pit bull sites tell people never go to a dog park.
I’m guilty. I have written several articles on the subject of dog parks and I have been to and observed all but one dog park in my city. Every time I have went I was thankful I did not bring my dogs. Why? Not because I have Pit Bull Terriers but because I saw how many idiots were standing around just chatting while their dogs were off bugging other dogs, acting aggressive towards other dogs, and in once case this poor little Doberman pup was getting bullied by two bigger dogs.
Where were their owners? Oh, wait, they needed to talk about why Sally didn’t tell Bob that Henry was hitting on her last week when they were there. Basically they were off in their little human world of gossip. Mean while their dogs are terrorizing this little puppy and the puppies owner is turned off as well.
Dog Parks are a Bad Idea for Pit Bull Terriers along with ALL dogs.
I’m not a huge believer in the old school, “pack” mentality but I am not an idiot either. I do know that dogs can “pack up” when allowed to. Dog parks are perfect places for dogs to form loose dog packs. Regular visitors to the park pack up and when new dogs come to the park they are seen not as friend, but as intruder’s into the packs territory.
Now toss in a bunch of owners without an ounce of training in dog behavior and you have a recipe for disaster.

April 12th 2008 – Pug Puppy Killed by Newfoundland
These are just two examples of why dog parks are a bad idea. While the idea was a good one the actual application is not so good. Now before you comment about how you take your dog to a dog park and everything is peachy and all the dogs get along and the people are great, stop, I don’t care.
My point is simple, dog parks suck, they set your dog up to fail, they can have a horrible impact on your dogs socialization, and they can lead to a dead dog.
Joining a dog socialization class is much more effective because the dogs are set up to succeed and they are supervised at all times. This all but eliminates the possibility your dog will have a bad experience which will help with their dog manners.

If you don’t know me by now my name is Jason Mann. I am a Pit Bull owner. Advocate. Fancier. And I am sick and tired of all you dog owners out there. Yes, I said dog owners. I don’t understand how people can say they are dog lovers but yet, hate Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, or any other breed of dog.
The other day I received an email that said, “I’m a dog lover, but I don’t like Pit Bulls.” It went on to tell me about he had been attacked, I don’t know, 7-8-9 times by Pit Bulls and his dog had also suffered 2-3-4 attacks from Pit Bulls. Now I might be cracked but you would have to be the most unlucky person (and dog) in the world to have that many encounters. I’m sorry but the guy was not being honest and again, I don’t even know if he knows what a Pit Bull is.
Do you?
I am sick and tired of anti-pit bull people out there trying to paint my breed as a vicious dog from birth that must be banned or they will kill everything within 500 yards. A crazed canine killer! Whatever. Stick it in your ear.
I am sick and tired of people using victims of dog bites to further their anti-pit bull agenda. You know who you are and I know who you are. I plan on dealing with a specific person in the very near future right here on the Pit Bull Lovers blog.
Using pictures of dog bite victims and then you talk about Pit Bulls and how they are dangerous etc… The worse part of that is the bite victims were not bitten by Pit Bulls, at least there is no caption to say they were. It is just speculation and hearsay. Yet, people flock by the thousands and believe every lie they spout from their big mouths.
My beef there is, if these people really cared about their “victims” they would not care what kind of dog bit the person but how to stop all dog bites. One popular dog bite site’s owner was supposedly attacked by a Pit Bull. I could see how she is really concerned about others. Not really, she is out to get the breed that bit her. Just like another nut job I’ll address…
Ingrid Newkirk of PETA is that whack job I’m talking about. Hey Ingrid, eat some meat, get the stick out of your ass, and leave me and mine alone.
I am sick and tired of good people getting bad raps just because they love a breed of dog. I have some choice words for all you fear mongering, hate festering, retarded moron’s, you can kiss my natural white behind.
And finally, to every single anti-pit bull supporter out there, I don’t care who you are, dog owner, PETA supporter, HSUS supporter, rescue owner, shelter worker, President of kennel clubs, or the President of the United States, I don’t care who you are, you can all take a long walk off a short bridge. Me and my dogs will always be around, get over it, deal with it, stop crying in your soy milk, and understand that you will never, and I do mean, never, get me to back down.
On a lighter note: If you have posted a comment, good or bad, over the past few days and don’t see it on the article you posted it on, I apologize. Apparently every sex site in the entire world thinks my posts are worthy of spamming. In the process of getting rid of these spam comments I noticed I had accidently dumped a few legit ones as well. You can comment again or not. That’s up to you.
Best Regards,
Jason, Angel (American Pit Bull Terrier), Honey (American Pit Bull Terrier), and Mr. Patches (My Mutt).

Today, I want to share some information with you that I pray will help open your eyes and every person who has a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier or Pit Bull type dog to the extreme danger we face as fanciers of these great dogs.
I have written about the HSUS and PETA and I have shared their view points with you and why they are hypocritical low life’s that are not even on the same level as my dogs poop. Much less on the same level as my dogs.
You may have already seen the following site but there are people out there that are lobbying to get our dogs taken from us based on hype, hysteria, and pure hatred. These people are 100% out to get your dogs banned and or taken away.
While millions of dogs are in the United States these people pick on our dogs based on old, outdated, “bite statistics” and they use them as if they are fact.
These dog bite and attack sites try to use the CDC study information. The CDC has said these reports are not accurate and they are in no way useful in determining what breed is more dangerous than the another.
Yet, people who hate our dogs and think banning them will stop dog bites still insist on sharing this knowledge with caring, but ignorant people, who are hoodwinked into believing these stats and lies.
As a proud, and responsible, Pit Bull owner I personally believe that these sites are one the lowest of the low in regards to using our dogs to create buzz for their cause.
Want to see how they exploit the stats? Want to see how they demonize our dogs and not stopping their they demonize us? Want to see how they are breed specific fear mongers who are filled with hatred?
Visit – http://www.dogsbite.org
While millions of dogs are out there and dog bites occur daily from a number of breeds (Labs, Dachshunds, Golden Retrieves, Border Collies, etc…) they choose to put the Pit Bull and pit bull type dogs up on the chopping block instead of addressing the real problem. Which is irresponsible dog owners and irresponsible parents.
Dog bites are a problem in our country, because people won’t use common sense in regards to their kids and dogs. Period. That is the bottom line. Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are not any more likely to bite than any other breed. Yet Collen Lynn, founder of dogsbite.org insist we need breed specific legislation to stop the “pit bull problem” and again, uses flat out false info to show how BSL is good.
Also, it say she was attacked for approximately 5 seconds by a leashed Pit Bull while jogging. Can you say biased, emotionally based hatred?
Until Next time,

First of all I would like to start out by saying there simply are not enough positive pit bull stories online. I would love to see more and if you have a blog, start posting those stories about your own Pit Bull. We need them.
Now for my own positive story about my Pit Bull Angel. Angel has bad arthritis in her ankle joint. Needless to say her exercise has to be restricted a little bit. I am a dog trainer as well and I have started training out of a new facility which, by the grace of the good lord above, has a killer doggy pool.
Angel loves to swim and I love to watch her play in the water. Her ankle would not have as much impact to it and the exercise would do her some good so we head out for a day on the water.
Angel is, well, not so good with puppies. She doesn’t tolerate them very much and the day we arrived at the pool there were a few puppies in the front office area of the facility. We have to go right past them and I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous.
We walk in, I let them know I am there for our pool session and one of these little pups (A boxer pup, cute as a button too) comes up and sniffs Angel from behind. I see this and try not to over react just as I do Angel spins around and licks the little pup right in the face.
A few seconds later Angel, who is 8 years old, drops to a play bow and starts to invite the little dog to play. I for one was relieved.
The other puppy kind of joined in and we were having a tag team puppy match against Angel’s big sloppy tongue.
I wish I had a camera, this confirms why I chose the Pit Bull as my breed. I love them and I was so proud of Angel that I was bursting at the seams.
We made our way to the pool and spent a half and hour having a blast. I started wishing the puppies were there to play too! That would have been cool.
The only regret I have is I didn’t take my camera. I never seem to have it when it counts.
I encourage every Pit Bull owner to tell your positive story and help get the truth out there to the general public. It’s easy. Start blogging!
Until Next Time,
Jason, Angel (tired after that pool session!), Honey and Patch
