I Hate Pit Bulls! They All Should Die!
There are people out there that, with no life of their own, make it their mission to kill Pit Bull Terriers and terrorize Pit Bull owners. Why? Because they are fanatics without a cause.
Recently one of these folks has been sending me an email every now and a again to remind me that “Pit Bulls are killers!” His emails contain links to stories like, “70 year old man bitten by Pit Bull dies 3 weeks later from his injuries.”
As with all emails like his I take a two step process and I suggest all Pit Bull owners and advocates take a similar approach.
Step One: Present the UNDENIABLE FACTS that Pit Bulls are not inherently more dangerous than any other medium to large breed dog.
Step Two: Smile knowing you’re right.
One of his last emails to me said, and I quote, “I am tired of Pit Bull advocates ignoring statistics and the pain these animals cause to humans through their incredible strength and ferocity.”
I do not ignore statistics and most Pit Bull advocates will share mountains of statistics with anti-pit bull fanatics. Problem is, they don’t care.
I’ve been called “radical” for my stance on Pit Bulls by the anti-pit bull crowd. I’ve been called a “fanatic” myself. Yes, I am a Pit Bull fanatic and frankly I am not afraid to tell you that in public. I love Pit Bulls (DUH! Pitbulllovers.com!)
So when some tart comes along telling me about the latest “mauling” I reply, prove it. Prove that (A) the dog was in fact a purebred Pit Bull Terrier and (B) the dog was completely, without ANY human involvement, responsible for mauling someone.
You know what? Most never reply simply because they know that (A) is hard to prove and (B) is impossible because at every step of a dogs life a human being is responsible in one form or another for that dog.
One final thought, Why is it that the majority of professional canine experts all agree that Pit Bulls are not any more dangerous than other breeds? Think about that for a bit. The people who actually work with these dogs on a daily basis completely disagree with the anti-pit bull stance. Weird huh?
Until Next Time,

Author – The Pit Bull Training Handbook

I am a proud pit bull owner. When I take Bruno out into the community, I sometimes come across people who gasp and back away from him, and other, braver people make disparaging comments about the breed in general. I used to take it personally and become affronted, but now, I just listen quietly. In my experience, the majority of the people who speak out against pit bulls are doing so out of ignorance. Unlike many pit bull owners, they have not read about, researched, or spent any length of time with a pit bull. It is fairly obvious to me that many of the naysayers simply want to have their say, and absolutely nothing I can offer will change their minds on the matter. A friend of mine has this great saying: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
In addition, it is obvious to me that most people who are frightened of Bruno have not really looked at him. He is a beautiful dog, and receives copious amounts of love and admiration wherever he goes. Add to that his personality, which matches his good looks. He is excellent at reading situations, and has been wonderful with infants, toddlers, the elderly, and the handicapped (physically and mentally). As a matter of fact, after he is finished with his Level II advanced training in about 3 months, I will be looking into training as a therapy dog. As I said, those who are frightened have not looked at him.
On the other hand, for every person who dislikes my dog and/or pit bulls in general, I have met at least 5 who have fallen in love with my Bruno. He is affectionate with people and other dogs, and he is quite the looker. As I said before, he is never lacking for flattery, praise, or love. I myself was cautious and nervous when taking him into the community as a puppy. I was concerned about how others would perceive him. I have been very pleasantly surprised to find how many people are pit bull lovers here in southern California. Even those who own other breeds are understanding of the unfair stigma placed upon this breed. Of course, there are some mean and nasty pit bulls, and there is the disgusting and completely abhorrent issue of dog fighting, but as a breed in general (and my boy in specific), I cannot ask for a better dog. They are (according to several surveys…look it up, you doubters) more people friendly than golden retrievers. They are loving and smart, and I cannot imagine my life without my Bruno.
I am only 17 and i have owned no other type of dog but pit bulls my whole life… These animals have done nothing but save me from things time and time again. I have twin daughters that are 2 years old and when they were born my 3 pit bull dogs slept in the same bed as they did just to try to protect them… I will never disown my dogs and i will always be an extreamly proud pit bull owner and i think that the people that train the dogs to be aggresive are the ones that need to die…why should those dogs pay because their owners are stupid
I am 31 years old and I have owned several Pits. They were all the sweetest animals I have ever been around. I currently have three that live with us, two females and a male. I am a firm believer that it is the owner, not the animal that causes most of the problems. I have owned many dogs through out my life and the ones who usually end up biting are the ones that you think you are safe from like Poodles and Dalmatians. Another problem that plagues Pit Bulls is just anyone breeding. My animals are all fixed and I leave breeding to the people who have done proper research on it.
i have 2 pitbulls sweet pea & pearl & a staffordshire bull terrier hogan.i have had sweet pea 6 1/2 years. i have had pearl 5 1/2 years. i have had hogan for 6 years. i actually do not have many negative reactions in my town, mostly positives comments.i can not stand the way the media makes pitbulls out to be a mean dog. the 3 dogs are most well behaved , loyal, kind hearted & funny dogs i have ever had. i will never have any other breed , than a pitbull. i love them ! pitbulls are more sensative than most people realize. pitbulls are not bad, its bad owners.
i am an owner of a blue male pitbull. im a single mom i have a six year old daughter and he loves us both. he is so passive. He is nothing like i was told he would be. He is very gentle with my daughter. He plays a little rougher with me but he is great. He has been crate trained since he was six weeks old now he is six months old. He has never had an accident in the house (he is so smart) he walks on a leash he does not tear things up. I read several books and spoke to people before i got him and the books were right id have to say,. If you walk him and let him get his exercise he is happy if he does not get to “go out and play” he will jump up on you every time you get up lol but i would have to say in general pitbulls are not all bad. the back yard breeders and inbreeders make bad retarded dogs that have bad behavior due to poor care.
I can not believe that some people think like that. Pit bulls are like all other dogs.
i have a pitbull that is 21/2 yrs. old, he is the most precious dog ever. i have grandkids who he is very good with. i dont have a problem with him tearing things up (except his rope) , i dont know what is would do without him. i have a disability that i pass out and when i am down he will sit right by my side and bark to alert my family. when i was young i was attacked by a weiner dog and had to have over 200 stitches in my face, should be ban all of that breed?
i live in quebec my dog taz in a park was bitten by a smaller dog,so he bit him back and the owner of the smaller dog jumped in an had a few superficial bites on her hands and face. we all know you never put your face when dogs are analyzing each other.her dog is known to be pretty vicious ,even chasing a child 4 yrs old and biting him. my dog was taken away .after we paid alawyer to put in an injunction. my lawyer said dont worry they cannot take your dog….. 2canine police and 6 montreal cops i was put in handcuffs my husband who was sleeping just woke up like whats up was put in handcuffs.when i opened the door i said im sorry talk to my lawyer i was pushed over my ac that wasthere they took taz. i bothered the ville demontreal for weeks there was a previous case and he had access to his dog .i kept being a pain in the ass. we were granted one visit. the next day i was bugging for another one.. they granted us full rights to see taz anytime,we were at the spca everyday loved the people tried to help in any situation long story i thing we are not going to win despite the fact that this woman lied .just because he is a pitbull its over one year .we got an independant aggression test on this dog and the accredited dog trainer said i have a 3 year old son i would not have a problem leaving them together..i already knew that hes agreat dog and i dont know if i can get him back. im fighting with a lawyer
Garbage. Pit bulls are extremely agressive animals who must be “socialized” as puppies or else you own a living lethal weapon. I don’t believe they should be allowed in city limits, and if so should be muzzled at all times in public. The only animal worse is an Argentine Dogo, which is a relative, and banned in many countries around the world. Sure people are to blame too. Pit Bulls are killers, and attract low class, trashy people who own them and encourage aggression. Maybe the owners should be muzzeled too. Haha!
I am 15 going on 16 and I LOVE PIT BULLS very much! I am planning adopting one from the Villalobos Rescue Center, I think Pit Bulls are very loving dogs from what I have experience first hand with them. Same goes for my own two dogs as well, I own to Min Pins named Hannibal(named after Hannibal form The A-Team) and Tsunami and are runts. Every Pit Bull they have met they absolutely loved and the dog loved them back. I did have one bed experience with a dog, a 5 year old female Golden Retriever, she growled and then charged at Tsunami and tried to bite him even though she was at lest twenty feet away. The owner apologized and said that she was dog aggressive especially towards puppies. I think the best way to improve the Pit Bull Breed is to breed out the aggression genetics. Many people don’t want to do that they just want to hate the breed no matter what. Yet they call people who love Pit Bull types crazy and “pit nutters”, like the bitter crowed over at the Pit Bull owners wake up blog. I pretty much like any breed of dog that people hate. If they hate it I love it because I can really see the true potential of the breeds. I like they saying Punish The Deed Not The Breed because it’s true. Ban bad owners not dogs based on breed.
First, Dogo Argentino’s are NOT related to American Pit Bull Terriers. Developed in a different part of the world using different breeds. For the record, EVERY DOG should be socialized as a puppy. It is people like you that fuel my work. Thank you for helping me stay motivated. I really appreciate it.
Hello y’all.
Well i am going to buy a pitbull after a long conversation with my parents they allowed me to buy a pitbull however, we went to my little nephew’s birthday, and my father met one of his friends, he told him about a pitbull fight which happened a few days ago, a Shara’s Cal (http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&biw=1280&bih=466&gbv=2&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=sarplaninac+breeders+usa&aq=2&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=sarplaninac)
Shara’s cal attacked a pitbull, the shara’s flipped over the pitbull but the pitbull bit her throat and didn’t let her go, so they had to stick a cane in the pitbull’s throat so that he will release the jaw.
I am not against pitbulls, in fact i love them but i don’t know how to make my parents believe me that pits are good dogs, we all know pitbulls have a bad REP.
So Jason Mann, since i’ve seen your page and i am looking forward to buy your book i know you’re a pitbull lover and a wonderful owner, I’d love if you could tell me something about your dogs, how they are, what they like, how much they eat per day, have they biten anyone and such..
I am taking my pitbull puppy in 13 days.. I have researched a lot about pitbulls i even went to visit pitbulls and such..
P.S: Thank you in advance, i am a fan of yours.
My dogs are great. Typical Pit Bull Terriers. People friendly, somewhat animal aggressive, do not tolerate rude dogs. They eat enough to keep them healthy and fit. There is not a set amount or type of food that is best for all dogs.
My dogs have never bitten anyone.
When you get your new puppy start socializing them and start working on bite inhibition both things are covered in the training section at http://www.pitbulllovers.com and are covered in more detail in my ebook http://www.pitbulltraininghandbook.com
give me a break dont kid yourself people that own pitbulls are either ignorant or stupid usually both. my neighbors pit attacked my cat and i put two bullets in it. i would encourage everyone that walks their dogs near where pitbulls live to walk with a gun and don’t be afraid to use it. We could use less pitbulls in the world.
To Ellis (or Capt. Saul?) Talk about ignorant and stupid. My point made yet again.
Ok this is two nancy and ellis you are what i like to call IGNORANT you are idiots and you should be ashamed of your self i am younger and my PITBULL has been attacked by other dogs and all he has done is submit and lay on his back he has sufferd much damage all dogs do damage pluse pitbulls dont naturaly have lock jaw they must be trained to know how awwwww and i am not white trash,a gangster or anything else i am a true AMERICAN PITBULL LOVER SO SUCK IT.
I am 30 years old and I am ashamed to say till last november I was not a pit hater but one of the ignorant people you talk about.and I was well anti-pit. In november of 2010 my kids were walking home when a stray pit protected my kids from a black lab that was nipping at them. I decided to take the pit in and take care of it till the owners could be found, cause our dog pound dont keep pits they put them to sleep after 36 hours. I did leave the dogs info and my number with the pound incase the owner comes by. The next day the owner called me and I told her how impressed I am with a pit bull being so good. When we met them they had a red pit bull pup in need of a home due to the guy that had it couldnt keep it. We took it in for a trial and wow he is the most kind hearted ans sweet dog I ever had and I was a labrador type person.
Now I have a neighbor that said he is gonna shoot my pit “caine”, cause he hates pits. He is always shooting his gun off when we are outside playing with and walking caine. The sherrifs wont do anything cause we live in the country and you can shoot anywhere you feel like it here. I want to put an american flag up with my caine on it. Also I want some yard signs in support of pits, everything i have found on the net makes pits out to be thoug or mean theres nothing I have found to show thier pride. thank you
I have had dogs all my life I got my first pitt a year ago, someone left her on the side of the road she is nothing but a 60# bundle of love love her too death so loyal I am hoping to adopt more I have a Lab and a cat and the lab is more aggressive she musts wants to please it’s really sad that people think like that I take her everywhere and people just love her a wonderful loving misunderstood breed
You are a freaking idiot ‘ellis’. Maybe someone should put 2 bullets in you. FYI. Dogs go after cats not just Pitts. Grow a brain!!!!!
There should be a law to muzzle some people.
Pit haters, what are you doing reading a pit bull lovers blog?

I am a proud pitbull owner…i have 2 and another brand new member just arrived 3 days ago…Pitbulls are the only breed that i have linked with…there is a couple points i would like to make towards my babys and their breed…In Michael Vick’s case there were 100 pitbulls taken from the scene…to make a point these dogs were used to fight and praised for being aggressive…only 2 poor Pitbulls were put to sleep ONE! for aggression and the other for injuries…did you all read that just ONE for aggression the rest were adopted off or used for therapy with sick people and senior citizens…also another major point on my mind people talk so much about dog fighting and Pitbulls but at the same time they let their little kids watch pokemon! what the hell is pokemon its a kid (Ash Ketchum) or somthing like that…well this kid goes around and fights animals that he catches in a ball…main plot he fights animals to get badges to fight bigger and better animals…the hell is that shit….peace, love, and pitbulls
I have 2 pitbulls, 1that’s half pit&plott hound,1min-pin,1pom,and 2 chiauauas and they all live in the same house and run together. The pits are friendly and go to town with me and everyone pets them and comments on how pretty they are. These dogs behave better than most peoples kids. I would never have any other dog but a pitbull.
“I am tired of Pit Bull advocates ignoring statistics and the pain these animals cause to humans through their incredible strength and ferocity.”
It is true that a Pit Bull is a powerful dog, but ferocious they are not. It is only when the owner of these wonderfully intelligent animals is neglectful and irresponsible that a problem occurs.
“Garbage. Pit bulls are extremely agressive animals who must be “socialized” as puppies or else you own a living lethal weapon.”
First, why would any responsible and loving dog owner not PROPERLY socialize and train their dog (of any breed) as a young pup, to do otherwise is cruel and inhumane for it results in a neurotic and unstable dog with many anxieties and fears.
“give me a break dont kid yourself people that own pitbulls are either ignorant or stupid usually both. my neighbors pit attacked my cat and i put two bullets in it”
The bullets should have been reserved for your neighbors, not their dog.
It does scare me when I think of how much ignorance there is regarding Pit Bulls and Bully breeds in general. I bet almost all of you people who think that you can just go get a dog and not socialize and train it have raised a bunch of bully children that probably spend the majority of their time locked up in juvenile facilities or jail. How can you possibly believe that rearing a pup involves any less responsibility than rearing children?
@Nancy — as Jason has said, way to fuel the fire :) It is people like you who push us forward and remind us of why we do what we do and your comments continue to make us that much more proud of our dogs.
And hes right. You guys throw “statistics” in our face on a daily basis, but as soon as a factual comment comes your way — your too uneducated to care. CHILD. I couldnt love my dogs more than the moment someone is bashing the breed and we as the APBT lovers, thank you for your constant reminder.
@Jason — I understant that arguing or bashing people gets us nowhere, and every APBT owner listen up — we wont win by telling people they are stupid for thinking the APBT is a horrible dog. I am sure it pisses them off the same as it does us when they say our chosen breed is horrible. This is a battle of the facts and can only be won with examples and FACTS. I know I just let my mind run wild on this lady, but I am currently learning to control myself. But there is always that one comment that sets you off and that was one of them.
– I am sorry for the harsh words.

all of you crazy people that think pit bulls are the worst dog ever.. you have issues. like something is wrong with you in the head. pit bulls are only aggressive because of the way that they were raised and taught to fight. how would you like it if you had to fight 10 different people a day to survive? im 13 and i have had 2 pit bulls my whole life so far and they are just like any other dog/puppy i have ever seen and played with. my older pit bull thinks she is a lap dog when she is 65 or more pounds and has her head laying on my chest as i speak. she has never bitten anyone and has never growled at me. if someone tries to come near me, or even just yells at me, she will protect me and give that person a warning bark telling them to stop or she will attack(which she never has). to all you people who think pits are a crazy animal and should be killed… you are the ones that need to be killed. dogs and people are the same. the pits that have been born and bred into the life of fighting, were born like that! its just like having a baby and the parents are criminals and druggies. the baby was born into that life. no one gets to choice their parents or how they are going to come into the world. it just happens. and to any of you who have ever fought a pit, watched, or even thought fighting them was cool… let me just say this, you my friend have serious issues and need to goto a mental hospital. pit bulls are my life and im not going to stop having them as pets until the day i die. they are just big love bugs when raised in a good home. even pits that were fought then rescued, they make even better loyal pets because they know they have been saved. the last thing i have to say is, dont hate the breed hate the people.
@Gabriela- Best answer I have is from Jason
“There are people out there that, with no life of their own, make it their mission to kill Pit Bull Terriers and terrorize Pit Bull owners. Why? Because they are fanatics without a cause.”life’s cause
There are many sites out there where the admin/webmaster will say, they were bitten once by “A” pitbull, and as a result have made it their life’s work to get all pitbull’s banished from the World!
By saying all pit bulls are bad is like saying that all white males will be serial killers. Hello? You can’t judge one breed by some bad press. Typically serial killers are while males so if we hold that same ideal to all species, all while males will become serial killers. I know that is a harsh statement, but so is labeling all pit bulls killers. I read an article once where a yellow lab killed someone. The problem with pit bulls is problem owners. Yes these dogs are very strong dogs, but if raised in the proper environment, they won’t become vicious. Any dog raised in a bad environment will become vicious. Puppies like babies are born innocent and need to be nurtured and taught right from wrong. I have a 10 year old pit bull. She is the friendliest dog people I know have ever met. The residents of two different nursing homes would agree. My pit bull had a job. She visited in two different nursing homes on weekends and did nothing but brighten someone’s day or no other visitors. Not only is she good with sick and depressed adults, but she is great with friend’s and neighor’s kids. As with any controversial subject, the key to the truth is education. To all people that think all pit bulls are bad, talk to experts…not news media. Experts will tell you the same thing about pit bulls as with any other breed. New media will tell you what makes them money!!!
man dis iz stupid its not the dogs fault its the owners u have 2 take time to train them right and lovem but if u put them out side on a chain and go feed them and thats it they can get really aggresive cause they not getting no attention thats why most of them are trained 2 fight like i said its the way they are trained not them i have 8 so trust meh ikno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
