AP Investigates: Gang Dogs

August 20th, 2010

The other night I sat through AP Investigates: Gang Dogs. Ugh, not an easy thing to do for me.

Dog fighting and gangs are not new. People seem shocked that murderers, rapist, or muggers, would turn to dog fighting. These people would kill you over nothing. What makes people think they would give a crap about a dog?

These shows are not intended to help Pit Bulls. They are intended to strike bias in the minds of the public. Every single show Animal Planet has about Pit Bulls is about dog fighting in some way or another. Not a single show on Animal Planet has ever shown the breed in regular homes, doing therapy, working as assistance dogs, or working as law enforcement officers.

Nope. A bunch of uneducated back street murdering thugs are profiled. I mean, only these type of people have these dogs. At least that is what they want the general public to see. So when they start pushing for a ban they don’t see the 50 year old working mother of two. They see, “Poobear” with his grill and his gang dog.

I hate shows like this. Not only do you have to sit there and watch the dogs tear each other apart but the information on the shows is often based on lies or myths or they are just plain wrong.

For example, during AP Investigates: Gang Dogs they show dogs running on treadmills and they cut to an HSUS guy and he says they train them to be killers using treadmills.

Really? So putting a dog on a treadmill makes them a killer. This was implied by the statements. Shortly before that statement the narrator stated they train them to be killers by exercising them. Cutting to a scene of one dog running a mill, another dog running a jenny (or cat) mill, and then another one was on a spring pile.

What does a show like this do to help American Pit Bull Terriers or Pit Bull type dogs? Nada. Zip. Nothing.

Am I saying that these shows shouldn’t be made? No. It’s a free country (well sorta) and they can do what they like. However, my beef, my gripe, my anger is caused when Animal Planet (Anti-Pit Bull) does not offer a show that demonstrates the reality or at least an unbiased show that counters all the graphic, bloody dog fighting messages they love to show people.

Are Pit Bulls owned by gang members? Of course. Pit Bulls are also owned by regular people. Like you. Like me. Where is that show?

Pit Boss? Step in the right direction.

Pit Bulls and Parolees? A step in the right direction.

But where is the one hour show about the American Pit Bull Terrier that does not include dog fighting, gangs, crime, fatal attacks on people, where is that show?

If you saw AP Investigates: Gang Dogs you know what I am talking about. I am a grown man and I was working hard not to lose it. It’s sad. It’s horrific. But it is not the whole story.

Animal Planet (Discovery) needs a wake up call. I do not watch Animal Planet because they support animal rights (which I oppose) and they support anti-Pit Bull organizations like the Humane Society of the United States.

I am not saying this show is lying about everything. They had one animal control officer who actually had great things to say about Pit Bulls. However, it is the “dark and dirty” type programming that bothers me. They do it because it gets people to watch and they can sell advertising, they do it to create an image of the Pit Bull owner in the general public’s mind.

But the end result is, some dog owner sitting there watching and they see “Pit Bull = Gangs = Dangerous = yes I support a ban.” What do you think the first image they think of when they see you walking down the street with your Pit Bull Terrier? Do you think it would be positive?

That is why I get angry. Shows like AP Investigates: Gang Dogs do one thing really well. Create bias and fear.

If you’re not angry something is wrong.

Until Next Time!

Pit Bulls and Dog Fighting: The HSUS and ASPCA Over Step Their Authority

February 11th, 2009

Pit Bulls and Dog Fighting Busts: Animal Right Agencies Over Step their Authority
From Jason Mann & PitBullLovers.com
February 11th 2009

Dear Friend and Fellow Pit Bull Terrier Fancier,

I am writing you today to request that you withdraw all support for the ASPCA and HSUS. If you are donating money to these organizations please, for the love of our breed, stop right now.

There are many Pit Bull owners and animal lovers out there who willing support this organizations thinking they are doing “good works.” Sadly, these organizations are doing anything but “good works” in regards to our breed.

The HSUS has taken it upon itself to become an animal police force when in reality they do not have any legal authority to take the actions they are taking in regards to Pit Bull owners and their dogs.

With shows like Animal Cops and Miami Animal Police they are telling the viewer they are law enforcement. This is not true. In fact they do not have any legal authority at all.

Let’s take a look at a few cases where the HSUS stepped in and helped the animals.

Case #1: Floyd Boudreaux

Notorious dog fighter or victim? Actually he is both. He openly admits to fighting his dogs in the early days, when it was legal. Now though he is a famous APBT breeder and his dogs are from some of the best game dog lines out there.

Victim? Yes. Last year Floyd spent time in jail on dog fighting charges. Those charges were dropped due to the fact the authorities created false evidence. Evidence which was used to secure a warrant to raid his home and steal his dogs.

How many of his 50 plus dogs were re-homed? None. They were all put to sleep. Even the puppies. Why? No one really has given me a straight answer on this and I have asked the Louisiana ASPCA without a reply.

So Mr. Boudreaux and his son lose their dogs, whom they loved, are jailed and after the HSUS and law enforcement can’t make a case they are aquitted. It doesn’t matter, the damage is done, and the HSUS succeeded in smearing the name of a American Pit Bull Terrier fancier and steward of the breed for longer than I have been alive.

Case #2: Joe Woodall

Joe emailed me the other day and told me his story. I think it is important to share his experience here because from what I gather this is just another HSUS/ASPCA scam to steal people’s dogs and kill them without having to answer for their actions.

Mr. Woodall is fighting to get his dogs back but here is the rub. They were never charged with any dog fighting crimes but that is why their dogs were stolen.

There are many aspects to these two cases that bother me. First and foremost is lack of real evidence before the animal right organizations storm people’s homes. Second, why are law enforcement agencies allowing dogs to be taken, re-homed, or killed before anyone is charged with anything!?

My friend this is theft. Plain and simple. If I came to your home and said, “You know I think you are a dog fighter. I am taking your dogs.” Then I take your dogs, kill them, or sell them to new homes, would that be right?

No, it would be theft.

The HSUS and the ASPCA are theives who are profiting from illegal seizures of perfectly healthy animals who are well cared for and loved.

Let’s not kid ourselves. No one is a perfect angel. We all make mistakes, we all have our demons, we all have our hang ups. However that does not give the HSUS or ASPCA the right to come into a persons home, steal their property (their dogs), and sell them (adoption fees = selling a dog) or kill their dogs.

Even if someone is fighting their dogs it is still not right to steal their dogs and kill them because they say they can’t rehome them due to the fact they were used for fighting. Fighting dogs, by nature and a rule, are excellent dogs with people. And for all those lovey dovey, wishy, washy, why can’t we all get along, short bus types, who cares of a dog is dog aggressive! It doesn’t make a difference one in the grand scheme of our breed.

American Pit Bull Terriers are noble canines that deserve our respect and our love. Not our hate and contempt. Allowing anyone to come in and say, “Well you have a Pit Bull, we are going to take them now without any reason whatsoever and kill them because well, they are fighting dogs.” Is stupid and it must stop right now.

I will end this post by saying this. I am not a supporter of dog fighting. I hate it. It is a dead activity that does not belong in our society. However, I have more contempt for power hungry, law breaking, evil people like John Goodwin of the HSUS and organizations like the ASPCA than I do for dog fighters.

That’s right, these organizations are lower than the lowest animal abuser on this earth. These organizations abuse thousands of animals per day. They kill innoncent dogs and drive good people into the ground and criminalize them without ever bringing real proof they are in fact criminals. They ruin people’s good names and then they ask you for money to help support more of these actions.

As I said at the beginning of this post. If you donate to the HSUS or the ASPCA or both, stop right now.

Best Regards,
Jason, Angel, Honey and Patch

Signs of Dog Fighting – Hitting a New Low

October 19th, 2008

A subscriber to my newsletter, The Pit Bull Lovers Gazette emailed me from Australia with some items that you can find on their new, “Signs of Dog Fighting” list. Law makers are hitting a new low down under and frankly they are hitting them here in the States as well.

The absurd signs include:
1. Spring poles. (there’s talk of fining anyone found with a spring pole)

2. Tread mills.

3. Black kongs.

Ridiculous? I believe people pushing these insane “signs of dog fighting” lists are well, mentally challenged. Honestly, you’re going to call someone a dog fighter for having a widely popular dog toy (Black Kong). If it were not serious this would border on hysterical. But it is not funny. It is a serious problem when idiots make these lists.

The Humane Society of the United States and the puke, Wayne Pacelle who is the HSUS president also have a ridiculous list. Not only do they include treadmills on the list (watch out Cesar Milan!) they include many other common things Pit Bull owners have. Like, oh, more than one.

A direct quote for the HSUS web site reads, Dogfighting training equipment such as rawhide or tires hanging from trees (that dogs jump up and grab onto) or treadmills.”

Quote taken from – The HSUS website

Folks, the HSUS and other organizations like them are out to take your dogs and they are using the issue of dog fighting to do as they please to Pit Bull owners.

Take the infamous Floyd Bourdeox for example. Authorities flew over his property and said they saw “treadmills and fighting pits.” They used this false information to obtain a warrant and raid his home.

The HSUS helped with this raid. The Louisana SPCA confiscated (stole!) all 57 of his dogs and put them to sleep. Floyd Bourdeox was acquitted of all charges because (A) the authorities used false information to obtain a warrant (no treadmills or fighting pits were found) and (B) since allt he dogs were killed, they had no proof these dogs were being used for fighting (I highly doubt they were).

So what happened there? The HSUS and knuckle head authorities (including the Homeland of Security!) raided a 74 year old man’s home. Took all of his dogs, killed them, pressed charges, those charges never stuck, and now what?

The HSUS called him the “GodFather of Dog Fighting.” Floyd did fight dogs when it was legal. That doesn’t make it right, that makes it, legal. This, like most of the raids on “dog fighters” is nothing more than an anti-pit bull breeder program.

“Hey, You have 10 dogs on tie outs in your yard, You’re a dog fighter!”  – According the HSUS you are fighting dogs.

Keeping in mind if you are a Pit Bull owner, have more than one, own a spring pole or treadmill, and you tie your dogs out you will be targeted by some agency eventually.

Just in case people are not already brain-washed enough by the HSUS anti-Pit Bull propraganda they offer a $5,000 reward to anyone providing information on a dog fighting operation that leads to a conviction.

Directly from the HSUS site – “The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in dogfighting or cockfighting.

I don’t want you to take my word for it, check out the HSUS “Signs of Dog Fighting” page yourself and read how completely ridiculous most (almost all) of them are. They “signs of dog fighting” are at the bottom of the page.

http://www.hsus.org/acf/fighting/dogfight/what_you_can_do.html

Folks, these people are out of their minds and are on a mission to end pit bull ownership forever.

If you ever supported HSUS or PETA or the ASPCA, STOP RIGHT NOW.

All you are doing is helping them take your dog, my dog, and countless of Pit Bulls from owners around the nation.

Tell others, spread the word about these hate mongering idiots and their anti-pit bull agenda. After all, many people think the HSUS, PETA and the ASPCA are “friends” of animals. They are not. Unless you consider someone who would steal from you, kill your animals, and step on your rights a friend that is.
